Wrinkle free with green tea
If you are fed up with facial wrinkles but hesitate to use Botox to remove them, you may be interested in the latest research published in the American Chemical Society’s journal Crystal Growth & Design.
Researchers from the University of Ulm in Germany have discovered that using a LED light treatment together with a topical application of green tea significantly improved the removal of wrinkles, over and above using the LED light alone..
The Research The scientists applied a green tea solution to the delicate skin around the corner of the eye 20 minutes before using a LED treatment on the eye area. This treatment worked 10 times faster than some previous research which just used LED light alone to help remove wrinkles. The solution was made from 3g of green tea in 250ml of boiling water, and left to cool for half an hour. It was then applied to the eye area. The treatment was given daily for one month and produced a visible result of much smoother skin.
If you can’t wait for this type of treatment to become available, various cosmetic companies have a variety of rejuvenating skin creams and lotions that contain green tea extract. The anti-inflammatory agents in green tea help to prevent the breakdown of collagen in the skin, and thus keep your skin looking younger and wrinkle free. Clinical trials conducted by these companies show that skin is more elastic after using products containing green tea. It seems that the antioxidants in the tea help prevent skin damage caused by free radicals in the environment, excessive sun exposure and so on. Of course any moisturizer will help dry skin to some extent, whatever the ingredients, but as green tea has been scientifically proven to improve the appearance of wrinkles, it’s certainly worth considering these products.
Home Beauty Treatment
If however you are skeptical, or your budget doesn’t allow for experimenting with expensive creams, you may prefer to consider a home treatment. Many home beauty treatments recommend using teabags to help refresh your eyes, so why not try putting unused or even used green teabags on your eyelids instead of black teabags. Make the tea by pouring boiling water on two teabags and let them steep for about five minutes. Then when the teabags are still warm without being hot, gently squeeze them, then apply them to your eyelids. You don’t want tea running down your face! Alternatively, if you prefer, wait till the teabags are only slightly warm or even cool before lying down and putting them on your eyes. Leave them there for about 10 -20 minutes while relaxing by putting your feet up. In this way you will certainly help refresh your eyes, reduce puffiness and help get rid of those dark circles under your eyes. You may even find that the antioxidants in the green tea help to reduce your wrinkles as well!
