Green Tea and Diabetes : Is There A Link?

Drinking green tea can actually help in preventing a lot of possibilities of cancer and other diseases, making it one of the most sought out health solution by people from all over the world.  It was first known to cure the body with its strong healing properties among the Chinese and Indians and is now being researched and taken by people from all over the world from all walks of life.  Green tea is known to inhibit the growth of harmful cells and can even prevent the development of diabetes in people.  The issue on green tea and diabetes will be discussed further in the article.

Diabetes is a major cause for heart diseases and stroke in most. This happens when insulin, the hormone produced by the body that lowers the blood sugar levels by breaking sugar in the body down and increases the availability of sugar in the cells, is produced in little amounts or none at all by the pancreas.  The blood sugar in this case begins to rise, which then causes a lot of health problems in the body due to the abnormal amount of sugar in the body.  This can cause a lot of severe diseases like ulcer, kidney failure, heart disease, stroke, and blindness.  If worse comes to worst, diabetes can produce severe levels of heart diseases since it makes the blood vessels more elastic and will become clogged with plaque.

In green tea or black tea, the catechins in the leaves are able to prevent diabetes by reducing the blood glucose and balancing the insulin levels in the body.  It is able to control the rise of their glucose and insulin levels and is able to block excess starch and sugar from affecting the body.  Through this, green tea can also help with losing excess fat, which is also one of the main causes of diabetes.  Catechins are the anti-oxidants in the body that are responsible for the inhibition and blockage of a lot of harmful substances in the human body and therefore should be taken regularly to ensure that the body is constantly being cleansed and the cells replenished.

You can drink green tea or black tea, either in liquid or supplement form, depending on what is most suitable for you and what your doctor would recommend.  This way, when taken regularly, will increase your chances of preventing the chances of becoming diabetic and at the same time from experiencing severe heart problems and strokes.
